Obituary for Michael Vann Decker

Michael Vann Decker, 70, of Cartersville died on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Assured Hospice.

Born on March 19, 1949 in Marietta he was the son of the late Henry T. Decker and the late Gladys Gayton Decker. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Allen Decker.

Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He cared for others more than he cared for himself. Michael was employed by the DOT until his retirement and had a passion for playing golf.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Ross Decker; his sons, Michael Decker (Tammy), and Rodney Decker; his grandchildren, Brett Decker, Diane Alred (Patrick), Karley Powell, and Emily Decker; his great-grandchildren, Makayla, Kinsley, and Weston; his sisters, Angie Simpson (Doug), Margie Decker, and Gale Gilmer (Bryan); sisters-in-law, Frances Collum, Evelyn Evans, and Betty Bradley; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Ross, and Phillip Ross; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Bartow Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Reverend Mark Rackley officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.
