Obituary for Kenneth Lamar Mercer
Mr. Kenneth Lamar Mercer, age 57, of Cartersville, died on Friday, December 28, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 10, 1961 to the late Col. Howell Mercer and Mary Heldmann Mercer.
Mr. Mercer was very active in AA, serving his community in many areas. He had a great personality, knew no strangers and was known “coast to coast like butter on toast”. Mr. Mercer was a professional magician and loved to perform magic in his earlier years.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Mercer; his daughters, Rachel Mercer, Alexis Newton (Isaac), Rachel Diamond; his siblings, Phil Mercer (Ellen), Pamela Benson, Carolyn Peoples (Jimmy), Matthew Mercer (Susan); his grandsons, Isaac, Eli and Emory Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral home and Cremation Services with Ed Jeffery officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
