Obituary for James Timothy Southern

James Timothy Southern, 63, of Cartersville died on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Born in Cartersville on April 9, 1956 he was the son of the late James Thomas Southern and the late Martha O. Mathis Southern.

James was employed as a truck driver with Sysco Foods Inc., for thirty-five years until his retirement. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, hunting, and eating breakfast at the Whistlestop Café with the R.O.M.E.O. Club every morning. A strong supporter of the second amendment, he loved his children, grandchildren, and his dogs, Sally and Dolly.

Survivors include his significant other, Coleen Southern; his daughters, Stephanie Southern Clark (Darrell) of Cartersville, and Jaime Southern Wilson (Chris) of Adairsville; his grandchildren, Maegan Wilson of Cartersville, Payton Clark of Cartersville, and Chase Clark of Cartersville; his great-grandchild, Tinsleigh Hart of Cartersville; his sister, Jean Winkles (Richard) of Woodstock; and the mother of his children, Diann Southern Cherry of Cartersville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Reverend Keith Milner officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Alexander, Johnnie Queen, Chase Clark, Corey Clark, Marvin Simpson, Brad Cothran, Joel Kay, and Darrell Abernathy.
